Cargo Ship Strikes New York's Brooklyn Bridge

NEW YORK (MArketWatch) -- A cargo ship scraped the bottom of the Brooklyn Bridge in New York Friday night, according to reports citing the U.S. Coast Guard. There were no injuries. The accident involving the "Rainbow Quest," which was sailing south on the East River after departing the Brooklyn Navy Yard, delayed traffic for two hours. Authorities reportedly said the tide wasn't unusually high nor at its highest point for the night. An inspection of the bridge found no significant damage. The ship's light tower collided with the bridge around 11 p.m., according to reports.
