Carbonite Shares Climb 24% On J2 Global Takeover Offer
Cloud-based data-backup company Carbonite Inc. said Wednesday that it has received an unsolicited takeover bid from J2 Global Inc. that values Carbonite at $15 a share. J2 provides cloud and digital-media services for businesses and consumers. Carbonite said its board of directors would "review and consider the offer to determine the course of action that it believes is in the best interests of the company." Carbonite shares soared more than 24% to $14.60 after the J2 Global bid was made public.
