Biden, who compared LaGuardia to 'Third World country,' touts improvement plans at NY airports

Vice President Joe Biden and Gov. Andrew Cuomo are vowing to improve New York's airports, one of which Biden infamously dubbed "a Third World country."

Biden joined Cuomo at a news conference Monday as the governor announced a design competition to modernize New York City's John F. Kennedy and LaGuardia airports.

Biden made headlines in February when he said if he blindfolded someone and took him to LaGuardia, he'd think he was in "some Third World country."

Cuomo teased Biden about the comment Monday but then said the vice president "was right."

Biden says the plans to refurbish those and two other New York airports complement the White House's "bold" plan to revitalize the nation's infrastructure.

Biden repeatedly praised his fellow Democrat, who's up for re-election next month.
