Announcement expected Monday about whether Outdoor Retailer Show will stay in Salt Lake City
State and county officials are expected to announce Monday whether the world's largest outdoor retail show will stay in Salt Lake City or bolt for another city.
The Outdoor Retailer Show, which has been coming twice a year to Utah for nearly two decades, is only committed through 2016.
Show officials have said they want to stay in Utah but are considering cities in other states because of a shortage of hotel rooms and insufficient convention center space in Salt Lake City.
The event has grown immensely since 5,000 people attended the first show in Salt Lake City in 1996. The recent summer expo drew about 27,000 people.
It brings Utah a $45 million annual economic boost.
Salt Lake County has been trying to find a hotel company to build a new convention center hotel.
