Amsterdam Hit By Major Power Outage

Amsterdam on Friday was grappling with a power outage across the city and surrounding areas, according to news reports. TenneT, a Dutch electricity network operator, said an overload at a power station in the town of Diemen caused the outage. Partial power has been restored. Flights leaving and entering Schiphol airport in Amsterdam were cancelled, trains and trams were affected, and traffic jams built up in the city. Hospitals switched to backup sources of electricity, reports said.
