American Gaming Association says Ohio's casinos, racinos employed over 7,000 in 2013

The American Gaming Association says Ohio's commercial casinos and racinos employed more than 7,000 workers who received a total of $225 million in wages benefits and tips last year.

The Washington-based trade association says the four casinos and four racinos operating in Ohio in 2013 generated $351 million in tax revenue. That's according to numbers released Tuesday.

Ohio has casinos in Cleveland, Columbus, Toledo and Cincinnati. A fifth racino opened this year in the Cincinnati area and two more of the racetracks that operate with video slots are expected to open this fall.

The association says jobs in the gambling industry include accounting, hotel management, information systems and technology. Workers in the industry also are employed in areas including software, food and beverage, retail and entertainment among others.
