Allegheny Technologies Names Harshman New COO
Allegheny Technologies (NYSE:ATI) announced Thursday the appointment of Richard J. Harshman as the specialty metal producer’s newest chief operating officer.
Harshman, 54, will become President and COO, reporting directly to CEO Patrick Hassey, effective August 1.
“Rich Harshman’s personal values, judgment, business acumen, and 32 years of industry and ATI experience make him exceptionally well qualified to fill this newly created position,” Hassey said.
The new position will give Harshman operating responsibility for the company’s high sourcing, information technologies, investor relations and trust investment council, which controls the company’s pension investment strategies.
He previously served as the company's chief financial officer since 2001 and more recently doubled as the executive vice president of finance.
Allegheny announced other executive changes on Thursday, including the naming of Dale G. Reid, 54, as its senior vice president of finance, and Elliot S. Davis, 47, as the company’s vice president and general counsel.
