Why Taylor Swift bailed on the Grammys

A couple of issues surrounding the sale of her former label played a part in the drama

Taylor Swift's decision not to perform at last Sunday's Grammys involved a combination of issues involving her former record label and its boss Scooter Braun, according to the New York Post's Page Six.

Swift’s music catalog and her former record label, Big Machine Label Group, were bought by Braun in June.

Adding to Swift's decision not to perform was a allegation by a former executive of the Recording Academy that there had been serious sexual misconduct inside the organization.

One of the allegations was made against the Academy’s general counsel Joel Katz, who reportedly negotiated the sale of Swift’s former label.

Ousted Recording Academy CEO Deborah Dugan mentioned Katz in a legal filing she submitted last week, claiming he had sexually harassed her. Katz has denied the incident.

Add to that, The Post learned Katz had drafted the legal papers that Swift claims have prevented her from performing her own songs live.
