Powerball increases Saturday's jackpot to $500M

The Powerball jackpot has climbed again after no winner came from Wednesday's drawing

The new year could get off to quite a start if anyone can pick the winning numbers in the first Powerball drawing of 2022 on Saturday night.

The Powerball jackpot has been raised for a second time since there was no winner following Wednesday's drawing.

The top prize is now $500 million with an estimated cash value of $355.9 million.

That's a boost over the initially raised jackpot of $483 million after Wednesday's drawing, according to Powerball.com.

Wednesday's numbers were: 39, 6, 9, 33, 2  Powerball: 11

The last time the top jackpot went out was Oct 4, when a person bought a ticket worth $699.8 million in Morro Bay, California, according to The Washington Post.

POWERBALL TO LAUNCH THIRD DRAWING

The largest lottery ever won was the $1.586 billion Powerball on Jan. 13, 2016, with three tickets, from California, Florida and Tennessee, according to The Associated Press. 

In August, Powerball added a third weekly drawing to help increase jackpots faster. Powerball is played in 45 states, along with Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
