Burger King has a hot Valentine’s special: Your ex for a Whopper

'Birds of Prey" film joins burger chain on new promotion

Burger King has something new in store for scorned lovers on Valentine’s Day.

The fast-food chain, named one of Forbes’ top 100 brands, is teaming up with Warner Bros. and its new film, “Birds of Prey,” on Feb. 14 for a day of Harley Quinn-themed anti-romance.

In the film, which opened Friday, Quinn embarks on a post-breakup escape from Batman's arch-nemesis, The Joker. In the movie, the good bad girl faces a string of battles with crime bosses and henchmen before teaming up with three other heroines that help her fight. Quinn is played by Margot Robbie.

It will be much easier for customers to get rid of their exes with Burger King and Warner Bros.’ promotion. Patrons can simply bring in a printed photo of their former lover (or a letter, piece of clothing or stuffed animal) to select locations and exchange it for a Whopper.

Participating locations are in Boston, Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco.

Burger King will also take over an entire store in the Big Apple, decking out storefront windows, ordering queues and bathrooms, and temporarily rebranding it “Burger Quinn.”
