Entergy Considers Selling Nuclear Plant in Vermont

Utility company Entergy (NYSE:ETR) said on Thursday that it may be considering selling a 605-megawatt nuclear plant in Vermont, according to a report published in The Wall Street Journal on Thursday. The deal, however, is far from done—the state Senate already voted to shutter the plant in 2012 due to pollution.

Entergy purchased the plant eight years ago from the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Corporation, and said that several parties might be interested in repurchasing the plant. Possible bidders could include Exelon, NextEra, and Constellation. However, the sale may hinge on the plant’s 650 staff members and whether or not they can be retained, the Journal reported.
