Who: Tricia Samundsen, 30, @scentability
What: A homemade line of lotions, fragrances and essential oils.
When: 2009
How: Samundsen, a registered nurse by day, was constantly looking for lotion that didn't leave her hands greasy or dry. After receiving a good lotion recipe in 2002, she began to make lotions for friends as gifts.
"They prodded me into going to a farmer's market in 2009," Samundsen said. "I have more than 300 fragrances and essential oils now."
Where: Clarks Mills, Wisc.
In her own words: "I still work as needed as an RN, but I do this almost full time now," she said. "I am hoping within the next few years to be expanded enough to have my own store. I just delivered my first wholesale account this week."
