Tweet Business of the Day: Design House, Inc.
Who: Debra, 46, and Tim, 50, Purvis @designhouseplan
What: An architecture design firm creating custom plans for everything from dream homes, to shelters and safe rooms.
When: 1990
How: Debra graduated from college with a degree in drafting and design and decided to start a business on her own in the 1990s, according to Tim, who maintains the equipment and manages the office. She adds feminine detail to the art of architecture, her husband boasts.
"She better sees it from a ladies' perspective—she has a knack for talking with the wives," Tim said.
Where: Wiggins, Miss.
In his own words: "With the economy being slack, business is a little off right now—if it turns around we will be more optimistic," Tim said. "We would be open to the idea of expanding."
