Trump and Cruz Team Up to Take Down Iran Nuclear Deal
GOP 2016 front-runner Donald Trump took center stage Wednesday to fiercely blast the Iran nuclear deal before thousands of protesters on Capitol Hill.
“I have been making lots of wonderful deals, great deals, that’s what I do,” said Trump. “Never ever ever in my life have I seen any transaction so incompetently negotiated as our deal with Iran and I mean never.”
Mr. Trump joined forces with another Republican, presidential hopeful Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), to headline the “Stop the Iran Deal” rally. Sen. Cruz called the Iran accord “catastrophic,” outlining the consequences. He blamed the Obama Administration of becoming “the world’s leading financier of radical Islamic terrorism.”
"We are led by very very stupid people, very very stupid people, we cannot let it continue."
Cruz also said under the plan Iran will receive billions of dollars that will go to terrorists and it will leave behind the four Americans jailed in Iran, which include; Pastor Saeed Abedini, Jason Rezaian, a Washington Post bureau chief; Amir Hekmati, a former Marine and Robert Levinson, a retired FBI operative.
“It is a disgrace for this administration to abandon Americans in Iranian Hell holes,” said Cruz.
Trump added to Cruz’s sentiment, vowing to set them free.
“If I win the presidency I guarantee you that those four prisoners are back in our country before I ever take office, I guarantee that,” said Mr. Trump.
Under the current nuclear deal, Iran will not be forced to destroy any of its nuclear-related facilities. Iran will also be able to buy conventional weapons within five years and ballistic missiles within eight years. In addition to weapons, Iran has as many as 24 days to grant access to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) if it requests to investigate a suspicious site.
Coinciding with Wednesday’s rally, Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei made explosive statements via Twitter and on his website. He said that Iran would not negotiate any further with the “great Satan” U.S. and predicted Israel’s demise.
“After negotiations, in Zionist regime they said they had no more concern about Iran for next 25 years; I’d say: Firstly, you will not see next 25 years; God willing, there will be nothing as Zionist regime by next 25 years. Secondly, until then, struggling, heroic and jihadi morale will leave no moment of serenity for Zionists,” Ayatollah Khamenei wrote.
During the rally, Trump addressed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s remarks.
“They rip us off, they take our money, they make us look like fools and now they are back to being who they really are. They don’t want Israel to survive, they will not let Israel survive,” said Mr. Trump. “With the incompetent leadership like we have right now Israel will not survive.”
Trump continued to take aim at the current administration and Congressional leaders for the failures in the military fight against ISIS and veterans affairs.
“We are led by very very stupid people, very very stupid people, we cannot let it continue.”
The Republican presidential hopeful said under his watch, losing will no longer be an option for the United States.
“We will have so much winning if I get elected that you may get bored with winning believe me,” said Mr. Trump. “We are going to turn this country around, we are going to start winning big league on trade, militarily. We are going to have such a strong military that nobody, nobody will mess with us.”
