Small Business Spotlight: Stork Stack

Who: Chris Nakutis Liz Eavey co-founder and CEO, @StorkStack

What: A subscription gift service site for mom and baby

When: May 2012

Where: Chicago, Ill.

How:  Nakutis and Eavey, who are engaged, came up with the idea in 2012 after meeting with business school friends who are young parents. They felt it was hard to keep up with trends for their children while working full-time.

“We felt there should be a way to search, find small and medium-sized brands, test them and send them out to parents,” he said. “If you have a free hour, it should be spent with your kids, not researching the best brands for them.”

The business offers monthly subscriptions in patented gift stacks featuring five products per month to customers, and also gives back through Operation Showers of Appreciation and Baby Buggy to donate these products to families in need. The company donates one stack per family for each three-month subscription, two stacks for every six month subscription and three stacks for every yearly subscription.

Quote from the owner: “We look for small-to medium sized businesses to include in our stacks, so that moms can experience the new products, and we can help small businesses across the country,” he said.
