Small Business Spotlight: Zoom Room
Who: Jaime Van Wye, founder and CEO, @ZoomRoom
What: A social club, gym and therapy training course for dogs
Where: Los Angeles, California
When: 2007
How: Van Wye started the business to provide urban dogs with a dedicated indoor space to train, socialize and for their owners to shop. Today, the Zoom Room has 13 locations in seven states, with nine new spaces opening in the next six months.
“We don’t train dogs—we train the people who love them,” Van Wye said. “Owners are with their dogs the whole time, which means families, couples and kids can all get involved and stay active.”
The Zoom Room offers agility and obedience classes, as well as trick classes, which teach dogs how to do things like fetch a beer for their owners.
Quote from the owner: “Some locations even have doggy happy hour on Friday nights,” Van Wye said. “We do a lot of events, birthday parties. People like to celebrate with their dogs.”
