Steam Pushes to 5M Users Record

According to the latest report, multiplayer and communications platform Steam, distributed by Valve Corporation, has broken its own current user record by boasting a massive 5 million online users.

Steam, only last September, had 4 million users online at the same time. However, it has managed to hit an amazing 5 million users only recently and has again proved that PC gaming is still very much prevalent in the age of console gaming where Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony’s PlayStation are the big players.

Major publishers such as Bethesda Softworks, Activision, Rockstar Games, Square Enix, 2K Games, Telltale Games and Electronic Arts have large catalogues available on Steam.

As far as the latest information is concerned, the 5 million milestone was passed when it was reported that around 120,000 users were hooked to “Skyrim.” The second place belonged to “Counter Strike” with 72,000 online gamers and, very surprisingly, the third place was boasted by “Football Manager 2012.”

“Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3” came fourth in the list, while “Counter Strike: Source” completed the top five in Steam’s domination, according to a Kotaku report.
