Soup Nazi Puts Vets to Work in New Food Truck
The Original Soupman CEO Jamieson Karson and the ‘Soup Nazi’ Larry Thomas are teaming up to combine grilled cheese and soup with their new food truck.
“It gives us a chance to take our two brands, Grilled Cheese Truck and The Original Soupman, [and] put them into a truck or a cart in New York City… We are going to roll out our first cart on Veterans Day and it gives us a chance to also put veterans to work because veterans are going to own and operate the mobile units,” said Karson during an interview with the FOX Business Network’s Maria Bartiromo and Dagen McDowell.

The Soup Nazi, portrayed by Larry Thomas on the 90’s sitcom Seinfeld, will be the face of the business.
“This is a natural; I mean I played Al, now I am Al. It’s like one big soup of reality spinning around,” quipped Thomas. “Al is one of the foremost soup men in the country and his soups are very complex made with a lot of ingredients and spices. So, we treasure Al,” added Karson
Karson also discussed the economics of the food truck business.
“Historically the average unit of volume on food trucks for [a] Grilled Cheese Truck has been in the $500,000 range sales. Food costs run about 30%. Labor runs approximately 30% and there’s a… franchise fee and there’s a fee for the cart or the truck and the rest is profit,” he said.
He added that franchise demand is “excellent!”
