Small Business of the Day: Steph Stargell Designs
Who: Stephanie Stargell, 42, @stephstargell
What: Handmade jewelry including earrings, bracelets, necklaces and rings
When: July 2007
How: Stargell, who majored in sculpture while in college, found a passion for making jewelry. She makes sterling silver bracelets, necklaces and rings, although her earrings are the most popular items among customers.
After working in corporate sales, Stargell started her business with a focus on customer service. For the holiday shopping season, she is offering free shipping though her Etsy.com store until Dec. 20.
“I have been successful because my designs are classic and traditional, but still look modern,” she said, stressing the importance of customer service.

In her own words: “I don’t do a lot of bead work or frou-frou. It’s not fancy, but I offer a huge spectrum of designs that attracts different age groups.”
