Small Business of the Day: Classic Metal Roofing Systems

Who: Todd Miller, co-owner, 48, @classic_roof

What: A metal roofing manufacturer

When: 1980

How: Miller's father started the business in 1980, after leaving his career as an engineer. Miller worked there while in high school and college, and joined full-time in 1986.

"We were in a down cycle when I came here—the business needed some fresh life and new direction," he said.

From there, things picked up and Miller has been at the helm ever since.

Where: Piqua, OH

In his own words: "One of the big things that changed was that we used to have a strong focus on commercial application of products," he said. "We switched almost entirely to residential roofing in the late 1980s—we needed to make that change."
