Ride-hailing company Uber says review it commissioned shows customer data safe, private
Uber says that if you catch a ride with one of its drivers, your personal and financial data are safe.
The ride-hailing company on Friday released the results of what it described as a thorough outside examination of its privacy and personal data policies. While popular with users and investors, the company has faced criticism that its drivers are not properly screened for safety and that its employees have inappropriately accessed customer data.
In a blog post, Uber said that while the new review's findings were positive, it can make improvements. The law firm that did the review made several recommendations, which Uber said it would adopt. They include employee training and greater restrictions on who can access customer data.
