Newt Gingrich Fears Terrorists Will Take Out a City with Nukes
During an interview with the FOX Business Network’s Maria Bartiromo, Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich expressed his concerns about terrorism and nuclear warfare.
“We live in a world where we are surrounded by people who want to kill us. We had better adjust to this new reality or we are going to suffer terrific causalities and if they get a nuclear weapon, we are going to lose a city, that’s how serious this is.”
Gingrich said Congress needs to take a look at suspending the Syrian refugee’s entrance into the U.S.
“We currently have no intelligence that allows us a sense of comfort to be able to vet which of the Syrian refugees are legitimate and which in fact are simply purveyors of radicalism.”
It only took eight people to pull off this massacre -- that’s a pretty sobering thought about the kind of force multiplier the terrorists have.
Gingrich raised questions about homegrown terrorism and civil liberties.
“There’s an estimated 47 Mosques in the Paris region which teach Sharia, which suggests the Jihad is legitimate to impose Sharia Law. You’re going to find, I think, that most of the people involved in the killing last Saturday were European citizens -- not people coming in from Syria… It only took eight people to pull off this massacre -- that’s a pretty sobering thought about the kind of force multiplier the terrorists have.”
Gingrich also discussed how this could impact the dialogue going into the Presidential election.
“The reaction to the American Left to evil verges on a psychosis. How do you get them to understand you live in a world that’s not just Iran, Pakistan probably has over 200 nuclear weapons, North Korea, by Chinese estimates, may have 30 to 40 nuclear weapons. We are moving from the 50-year effort to contain nuclear weapons into a new challenge that nobody’s debating yet-- which is, how do you survive in a world with nuclear weapons, where you have radical enemies who are eager to use them if they can get one. This is a really serious problem in the matter in the long run for the survival of our civilization.”
