Three years of college rather than four - the Obama initiative to save money on college costs -- may appeal to debt-weary parents. It's a curious suggestion from a man who spent four years getting his undergraduate degree and three getting a law degree from Harvard.

I guess what's good for the goose isn't good for the gander in this case.
But trying to cram a four year education into three won't do anything to solve the problems of a bloated education system grown fat on cheap college loans from taxpayers. Real solutions would require us to address costs -- over-the-top administrator salaries, burgeoning ranks of bureaucrats, lavish accommodations and perks for people who are supposed to have their nose in the books.
Too much money creating a bubble -- that's the problem. The solution isn't learning less, it's getting discipline about spending!
