Helping Other Small Businesses Get Paid
We’re highlighting small businesses from around the country as nominated by you, our readers. If your favorite small business is using Twitter to communicate with customers, let us know about it @fbsmallbiz with the hashtag #mysbc, and it may be featured as an upcoming Small Business of the Day.
Small Business of the Day: PaySimple
Who: Founder Eric Remer, 40, CEO PaySimple @paysimple
What: Software that automates the payment process for small businesses
When: 2006
How: Remer got the idea for PaySimple from a business he had started years earlier, which provided a publication to apartment complexes across the country. The apartment owners asked Remer if he had any ideas to help them get paid more efficiently.
"That was the predecessor to PaySimple," he said. "We created software that helped them do that."
Today PaySimple has 67 employees and approximately 10,000 small businesses using its products.
Where: Denver, Colo.
Biggest lesson learned from a customer: "They just want us to be completely honest and transparent," Remer said. "The good, the bad and the ugly—many of them will look at you with respect, and your relationship will be stronger if you come with full transparency and honesty."
