Golfsmith International Holdings (NASDAQ:GOLF) said Friday that Sue E. Gove has been promoted to president, in addition to continuing her role as chief operating officer and chief financial officer.
Gove has been instrumental in improving company operations since joining the company in September 2008. As COO she has improved operations in the areas of store productivity, supply chain management, distribution, finance, and information technology. In March 2009, she was appointed CFO.

She will continue to report directly to Martin Hanaka, the company's chief executive.
Hanaka stated, "Sue has been invaluable in strengthening our foundation for growth since joining Golfsmith and we are very pleased to appoint her as President. She has been an integral part of developing operational excellence, a strong selling culture and enhancing the direct business among other contributions. I am extremely confident that Sue will have an even greater impact in her role as we enter the next stage of growth."
Before joining Golfsmith, Gove was an independent consultant in the areas of private equity and specialty retail. From 2002 to March 2006, she was the COO and executive vice president of Zale Corp. (NYSE:ZLC). Gove has also been a member of the board of Autozone (NYSE:AZO) since 2005.
