FOX Business Unveils Signing of Maria Bartiromo

FOX Business officially announced on Wednesday the signing of star financial news anchor Maria Bartiromo to a multi-year deal.

Bartiromo is jumping to FBN from rival CNBC, where in 1995 she became the first journalist to report live from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. Bartiromo had been anchoring the top-rated markets program at CNBC, which is owned by Comcast (NASDAQ:CMCSA).

FBN said Bartiromo will serve as global markets editor, anchor a daily market hours program on FBN and also host a Sunday business-focused show on FOX News Channel. As part of her prior contract, Bartiromo hosted a similar show on NBC.

Bartiromo is set to begin at FBN on February 1, and the network said each of her programs will begin before the end of the first quarter.

"I tapped Maria to report live from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange while at CNBC, and I am delighted to have her join me once again alongside our star lineup at FOX Business,” FOX News CEO Roger Ailes said in a statement.

Prior to her time at CNBC, Bartiromo served as a producer, writer and assignment editor at CNN’s cable business network. Bartiromo became the first female journalist inducted into the Cable Hall of Fame in 2011.

Shares of FBN parent 21st Century FOX (NASDAQ:FOXA) rose 0.6% to $32.11 Wednesday afternoon.
