Small Business of the Day: DRUM ASSOCIATES
Who: Brian Drum, mid 60’s, @DrumAssociates
What: An executive recruiting/search firm that identifies candidates for executive level positions for financial institutions, real estate, and other Fortune 500 companies.
When: Late 1967
How: Before starting Drum Associates, Drum worked in an agency which specialized in artists, copywriters, and people in advertising and media. Prior to that, Drum served in the Army. 1967 is the year he started working for recruiting for financial oriented firms on Wall Street and now his company, 45 years later, has grown to include about 25 employees, and includes his daughter who is also a partner in the business.
Where: New York City
Biggest lesson learned: “I’ve learned an awful lot, but I would say the biggest lesson is to make sure that we follow up and follow up, and keep following up with our clients. Customer service is very important to us.”
