Climate Alarmists Are At It Again

Warm weather in the Northeast has brought out two undesirables -- cockroaches and global warming alarmists. The latter have been going through their usual wailing and beating of chests about the coming end of the world through devastating floods and violent hurricanes.

While there have been some awful floods in the Philippines, it's not unusual that deadly floods happen somewhere in Asia this time of the year. As for the increasingly harsh hurricanes thatAl Gore & Co. have been predicting for years now, exactly the opposite is happening.

We have now gone six years without a Cat Three hurricane making landfall in the U.S. This is the longest period in more than a century that the U.S. has avoided a Cat Three storm or greater.

What does this tell us? Not a lot, because weather's always changing, no matter how much coal we burn. But it does tell us that global warming fanatics are wrong -- again. They were wrong about flooding in Manhattan, they were wrong about polar bears, and they're wrong about hurricanes. And this is just a partial list.

For all their wrong predictions, what's amazing is that so many people keep taking them seriously.

They're meeting this week in South Africa to try to squeeze an annual $100 billion tax out of "rich" countries to give to "poor" countries for climate control. Otherwise, they say, by 2017, global warming becomes "catastrophic and irreversible."

Do we believe them this time? Is paying another huge carbon tax the only way to make sure we live past 2017? If only it were that easy.
