Claman on Call: Musk Talks NASA Contract, Nevada Gigafactory
The big news for markets on Wednesday: The Fed is leaving interest rates unchanged, again, and giving guidance that it plans to do so for a while longer.
After initially dipping following the Fed statement, the three major market indices came back, with the Dow closing at a record high of 17,156.
It was an electrifying day on Countdown to the Closing Bell this afternoon, as SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk joined FOX Business in an exclusive interview to discuss the company's new partnership with NASA. We covered a wide range of topics with the modern-day rocket man, first up, was the announcement that SpaceX won a huge NASA contract to take astronauts to the International Space Station. Musk says that hopefully these "space taxis" will be operation somewhere between late 2016 and mid-2017.
Musk also talked about his new Tesla gigafactory that will be built in Nevada. He told FBN that the factory will create about 6,000 jobs for the state -- and he also addressed the accusation that the deal was taking unfair advantage of Nevada tax breaks. According to Musk, Nevada is a state that "knows the house" and if you have ever been to Vegas, you know that the house always wins.
Plus, Musk brought two Tesla cars to the FBN studios, where we checked out the super high-tech features of the Model SP85. Musk said the company will deliver half a million Tesla vehicles per year by 2020. And here's a remarkable statistic about Tesla's growth in China: Roughly every 20 hours a new Tesla charging station goes online.

Here is what you need to watch for on Thursday: At 8:30 a.m. ET, housing starts data are released. It should be interesting to see given how well names like Lennar performed today. Jobless claims are also released at that time. The Fed will be keeping an eye on this number given Fed Chair Janet Yellen's concern today about labor market utilization.
