Claman on Call: Google Shares Slip on 3Q Miss

Internet search giant Google missed Wall Street's estimates for revenue, earnings per share and paid-per-clicks for the third quarter, and shares fell about 3% after hours.

And there was a flurry of government activity on Thursday, following growing Ebola contagion concerns, including a number of school closures in Ohio and Texas. Dallas County will not, however, declare a state of emergency in the county. Taking a look at the markets, volatility walloped investors on Thursday, with the Volatility Index recording its biggest four-day spread in three years. And the Dow crossed the unchanged line 70 times before finishing down for a sixth-straight day -- it's longest losing streak in 14 months.
