Deere & Co on Friday raised its full-year earnings forecast after a 169% surge in quarterly profit, as a recovering global economy boosts demand for farm machine and construction equipment.

Bill Gates transferred more than $850 million in shares of Deere & Co. to his estranged wife Melinda French Gates, according to a report.

Deere now expects net income of about $2.25 billion for the full year, higher than $1.6 billion-$2 billion estimated earlier.

The heavy-equipment manufacturer earned $665.8 million, or $2.11 a share, as worldwide net sales fell 18 percent to $9.25 billion.
