President says U.S. may change approach to trade with Asian giant.

However, the president said Tuesday he wasn’t pleased with the way trade talks were going.

The president’s comment appears to contradict a report in The Wall Street Journal which said Washington and Beijing had agreed to a broad outline of a deal.

Negotiators from the U.S. and China announced on Saturday that the two nations created a framework for addressing the trade imbalances.

During an initial round of talks this month in Beijing, Washington demanded that China reduce its trade surplus by $200 billion.

An advocate for U.S. retailers is warning of expensive consequences for American consumers if President Donald Trump’s tariffs on U.S. imports from China are imposed.

Toshiba said in a brief statement that it expects the deal to be completed on June 1.
