At the end of the day, will the U.K. really leave the European Union? Skeptics like former U.S. Ambassador to Belgium Howard Gutman are doubtful.

“I have never seen a bigger case of seller’s remorse,” Gutman told the FOX Business Network’s Connell McShane. “It shouldn’t be hard to do, but I can’t find a Brit who’s willing to invoke Article 50.”

Gutman commented on uncertainty enveloping the British parliament regarding the Brexit timeline, the resignation of Prime Minister David Cameron, and future party leadership.

“David Cameron said ‘It’s got to be done right away, but by my successor, how about I leave in October?’ It’s June,” he said.

When asked whether or not having a “re-vote” to remain in the EU would be a breach of democracy, Gutman said an election needs to happen first.

“You need the best window dressing democracy has to offer,” he said. “Labour will come up with someone real, that person will say ‘I’m running on a stay,’ and he will be democratically elected. The good thing about democracy is that the last vote counts.”
