Kasich: Trump Attack May Backfire, Rules Out VP Run

During an interview with the FOX Business Network’s Stuart Varney, Republican Presidential Candidate John Kasich said the best way to appeal to voters is by proving you can fix the system.

“We have a lot of voters who are just picking outsiders because they just think the system doesn’t work. The only way to stop it is to be able to get the attention of these folks and explain to them that if you are a reformer, and you really do know how to get this done, and you really have produced in the past and you have a vision for the future. I don’t think you peel them away by attacking Donald Trump,” he said.

He also ruled out the possibility of running as Vice President.

“There is zero chance I will be anybody’s Vice Presidential candidate, period, end of story,” Kasich said.

When asked whether he would endorse Trump if he were the nominee he said, “If Donald Trump were to somehow endorse David Duke, of course I wouldn’t endorse him. Let’s see where this thing goes and let’s see what happens between now and then. I don’t like to get into speculation. The people who are in the arena I have a lot of respect for.”

He also commented on the war of words between Trump, Cruz and Rubio and restoring unity within the Republican Party.

“The party is very decentralized and very diverse… If I’m the nominee, the message that I have, [is] positive, the message of reform, the message of what I’ve achieved and what I would hope to achieve is something that resonates.”
