Verizon Completes Acquisition of AOL

A flurry of records Tuesday with the Nasdaq and Russell 2000 blasting through historic ceilings, closing at new record highs again! Both major indices also hit lifetime intraday highs as well. It was the second day in a row of gains for the major indices.

Several Nasdaq stocks also hit lifetime highs, including Adobe, Facebook and Gilead Sciences.

And online media giant AOL has saved itself from the dotcom graveyard, finalizing its takeover by Verizon.

When pushed on the reason behind the merger, AOL Chairman and CEO Tim Armstrong told me it was the best strategic move for the company and its shareholders, and that AOL will continue to grow and bring new and original content under the Verizon umbrella, all the while propelling online ad sales. And by the way, Arianna Huffington of the Huffington Post stays!

And speaking of ads, Fox Business obtained an about-to-be-released hilarious, but potentially controversial, TiVo ad campaign. The ad, which comes in two versions, shows a pregnant woman giving birth to a TiVo Roamio OTA DVR, and the husband "cutting the cord." TiVo will allow people to vote on one of two endings to the ad.
