Nasdaq Closes at New Record-High

All the major indices closed in the green on Monday. The Nasdaq and Russell 2000 both closed at new record highs. The propellant was hope that Greece finally got serious, presenting a reform plan that involved pension cuts in order to free up more bailout money.

Breaking news late in the session; a U.S. Senate committee released its findings on Takata, the maker of airbags. The committee said Takata may have put profits ahead of safety, holding back on investigations of its exploding airbags, which, to date, are known to have caused at least six deaths in the U.S. Takata fought back late Monday, saying the committee report has many inaccuracies and says it conducts regular safety checks at its plants and never stopped those at any time.

We have also learned that President Obama and Vice President Biden will travel to Charleston, South Carolina on Friday, June 26 to attend the funeral services of Rev. Clementa Pinckney, one of nine people shot and killed by a gunman at a church last week. President Obama is set to deliver the eulogy at their services. We will have more detail about the president's travel to South Carolina in the coming days.
