Alcoa (NYSE:AA) posted better-than-expected adjusted quarterly profits after the closing bell on Tuesday. The aluminum maker's shares are up more than 4%, extending a 17% year-to-date gain.

2. Intuitive Surgical (NASDAQ:ISRG)


Intuitive Surgical (NASDAQ:ISRG) shares are taking a hit after the company said its first-quarter profits will probably come in well below Wall Street's estimates. The profit warning comes amid slowing sales of its robotic surgery system called da Vinci.

3. Constellation Brands (NYSE:STZ)


Constellation Brands (NYSE:STZ) shares are jumping after the beer and liquor giant posted better-than-expected quarterly profits and an upbeat full-year outlook.

4. Halozyme Therapeutics (NASDAQ:HALO)


Halozyme Therapeutics (NASDAQ:HALO) shares are falling after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration ordered the biotechnology company to halt a trial in a pancreatic cancer drug delivery system. The move comes after the company voluntarily delayed the trial.

5. La Quinta


La Quinta, the hotel brand backed by private-equity giant Blackstone Group (NYSE:BX), priced its initial public offering Tuesday night at $17 a share. The company will make its public debut Wednesday on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol "LQ."
