Sarepta Therapeutics (SRPT) was a significant gainer in the sector, rising 14.3%. The stock closed at $14.40 with five million shares moving. The stock traded in a range of $14.05 to $15.18. Avanir Pharmaceuticals (AVNR) was another big mover, climbing 27 cents (+8.6%) to a closing price of $3.41.

Elan Corporation plc (ELN) rose 2.2% to close at $11.54, approaching its 50-day moving average of $12.07. It has also moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $13.11. Young Innovations (DGX) fell 2.1% to close at $36.80, moving closer to its 50-day moving average of $35.92. Also, the stock moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $58.64.
