During trading today, both the Financial sector (XLF) and the S&P500 showed little movement.

As a proxy for the sector, the ETF tracked closer to the overall market today than over the past month. As trading began today, XLF was up 3.2% over the last thirty trading days, and the S&P 500 climbed 4.4%.

Green Dot Corporation (GDOT) was a major gainer in the sector, rising 12.5% (+$1.13) to close at $10.19 with five million shares moving. The stock traded in a range of $9.17 to $10.34.

Southside (SBSI) was a major loser in the sector. Its price dropped 8.2% (-$1.90) to close at $21.15, as 63,837 shares moved. The stock traded between $21 and $22.91. Share price is up 90 cents (4.1%) from $22.05 on June 28, 2012.

Great Northern Iron Ore Properties (GNI) declined 5.2% to close at $69.05, moving below its 50-day moving average of $70.19 and 200-day moving average of $85.06. GSV Capital (GSVC) rose 8% to close at $9.77, crossing its 50-day moving average of $9.48.

Endurance Specialty Holdings (ENH) rose 2.8% to close at $35.15, approaching its 50-day moving average of $37.02. It has also moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $38.38. Evercore Partners (EVR) rose 4% to close at $22.96, getting closer to its 200-day moving average or $25.43.

Altisource Portfolio Solutions S.A (ASPS) hit a new 52-week high today, reaching $79.20 to top the previous high of $76.40.
