The Technology sector (XLK) showed little movement on a trading day that saw S&P 500 fall 0.9%.

Although it went in the opposite direction of the market today, the ETF tracked closer to the overall market today than over the past month. Entering today's trading, XLK was down 0.1% over the last thirty trading days while the S&P 500 was up 0.8%.

Increasing 15.2% (+$2) to close at $15.15, Chase Corporation (CCF) was a major gainer in the sector. Today, 34,234 shares traded hands. The stock traded in a range of $13.75 to $15.30. Shares have been on an upward trajectory over the past month, rising $3.45 (29.5%) from a price of $11.70 on June 8, 2012.

Synacor (SYNC) was one of the sector's big losers, as its price dropped 11.8% (-$2.04) to close at $15.30. 3.2 million shares of the stock moved. The stock traded between $13.44 and $18.

SanDisk (SNDK) fell 4.2% to close at $34.66, crossing its 50-day moving average of $35.39. Meanwhile, magicJack VocalTec (CALL) climbed 9.2% to close at $20.44, moving past its 200-day moving average of $18.78.

Western Digital (WDC) rose 1.5% to close at $32.01, getting closer to its 200-day moving average or $35.32.
