While the S&P 500 grew 0.9%, the Consumer Cyclical sector (XLY) showed little movement during trading today.

Increasing 9.2% (+$2.99) to close at $35.49, Westport Innovations (WPRT) was a major gainer in the sector. Today, 3.2 million shares traded hands. The stock traded in a range of $34.33 to $35.95.

Kandi Technolgies (KNDI) was a major loser in the sector, falling 6.8% (-22 cents) to close at $3.03 with 83,084 shares moving. The stock traded between $2.92 and $3.25. The stock has been falling in the last two months, down 60 cents (-16.5%) from a price of $3.63 on April 30, 2012.

Fuel Systems Solutions (FSYS) rose 6.2% to close at $16.17, crossing its 50-day moving average of $16.07.

Ethan Allen Interiors (ETH) rose 4.2% to close at $19.31, approaching its 50-day moving average of $21.43. It has also moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $22.93. Under Armour (UA) fell 3.5% to close at $93.23, moving down to 2.6% above its 200-day moving average of $90.78.
