During trading today, the Health Care sector (XLV) showed little change while the S&P 500 fell 0.3%.

The ETF, as a proxy for the sector, tracked closer to the overall market today than over the past month. Entering today's trading, XLV was up 0.2% over the last thirty trading days while the S&P 500 climbed -2.3%.

IPC The Hospitalist Company (IPCM) declined 2.2% to close at $36.83, moving below its 50-day moving average of $37.00 and 200-day moving average of $38.01. Orexigen Therapeutics (OREX) rose 19.1% to close at $3.99, crossing its 50-day moving average of $3.88.

ABIOMED (SNN) fell 3.4% to close at $23.19, moving closer to its 50-day moving average of $22.59. Also, the stock moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $48.12.

OraSure Technologies (OSUR) was one of the sector's big losers, as its price dropped 11.8% (-$1.32) to close at $9.85. 1.7 million shares of the stock moved. The stock traded in a range of $9.55 to $11.17. The stock is down over the last three months, having fallen 84 cents (-7.9%) from $10.69 on February 14, 2012.

VIVUS (VVUS) was a major gainer in the sector, rising 8.9% (+$2.01) to close at $24.70 with 6.9 million shares moving. The stock traded in a range of $23.01 to $24.78. Amedisys (AMED) was another big mover, climbing 53 cents (+5.3%) to a closing price of $10.54.

HeartWare International (HTWR) hit a new 52-week high today, reaching $84.25 to top the previous high of $81.06.
