Take every opportunity in your current position to show solid leadership and communication skills. By teaching others , and effectively communicating and planning will help you stand apart from the applicants.
Solid work performance should lead to positive reviews and evaluations. Don’t be afraid to point out your accomplishments, as well as your desire for a promotion when talking to managers--particularly during a performance review.
Always Have a Strong Work Ethic
Don’t give your boss any excuse not to promote you. Make sure you are a consistently reliable worker by being punctual, following through on promises and being productive and efficient while at the office.
State Your Case
Promotions aren’t given out just because you’ve worked at the company for a set period of time or because you are chummy with the boss. Be prepared to show your boss why you deserve a promotion. If your boss seems reluctant, find out why, and improve in those areas.
