Dynamite Marketing manufactures all-natural food and nutritional supplements for animals and humans. The company makes all-natural fertilizers and related products for soils and plants at its mills in Idaho and Iowa. Dynamite also distributes products manufactured by other U.S. companies, including a human supplement line.

Better Control in U.S.

Q: What factors did you consider when deciding to manufacture domestically?

A: The most important factor is better quality control. Dynamite Marketing makes food and nutritional supplements for horses, dogs, cats and virtually all members of the animal kingdom. Stringent quality control regulations in the United States have been a comfort to both us and our customers in the wake of deaths from contaminated dog food, alpaca feed and other products manufactured overseas.

Manufacturing in the U.S. also allows us to have exceptionally fresh ingredients, most of which are less than 30 days old. Our customers can receive products manufactured less than two weeks before, a level of freshness unheard of in our industry.

We also avoid the expense and inconvenience of overseas travel, as well as the perils of miscommunication because of language or cultural misunderstandings.

Trust Factor Spurs Growth

Q: How has domestic manufacturing influenced your organization?

A: We believe that it has helped our growth because it fosters a high degree of trust in us from our customers and a strong corporate culture. They know that we do not subcontract our formulas to other facilities over which we have no control. We also purchase only from reputable U.S. suppliers, and never buy damaged or discounted ingredients. In many cases we own outright the sources of our major feed ingredients. Having this degree of trust from our customers also fosters a healthy corporate culture in which employees take personal pride in their work.

We are in a unique position because we have one of the few mills that focus on specialty feeds for horses, alpacas, llamas and zoo animals. We can, therefore, fulfill our personal convictions of providing the highest quality feeds available.

Our manufacturing processes are so stringently controlled that we have a separate mill to produce feed for herbivores, such as horses and poultry that are especially sensitive to contamination from meat needed by other species such as dogs and cats. So far as we know, we have the only urea-free, antibiotic-free, meat and bone meal-free, insecticide-free, and unnatural preservative-free feed mill in the United States. Our U.S. location makes it much easier to manage these commitments.

Quality Products Worth Price Tag

Q: What is one of the biggest challenges to growth as your company moves forward?

A: We need to continue to communicate the message that quality costs more. We also are continually studying the latest research and developing new products, such as our Ultimate Dog Food, an uncooked food that needs no refrigeration. As we continued to increase sales across the country and into Europe and Asia, we hope to find innovative ways of maintaining freshness during longer transit times for our products.

Q: What is the biggest challenge to maintaining manufacturing in America?

A: The challenges, of course, are higher costs and stricter government regulations. Both we and our customers believe that quality products are worth the price.

Finding a Home

Q: Where is there opportunity in the market for your products?

A: We have tremendous opportunity for two reasons. One is the increased focus on natural products that do not damage the environment and the other is the increased focus on proper care for our beloved animals.

Our company has made all-natural products, whether tree fertilizers or horse feed, for four generations. We have a long history of a reputation for quality in our field.

People also are paying increasing attention to their beloved companion animals. Most people today want the same quality of nutrition for their dogs, horses and other animals as they do for themselves.
