Barnes and Noble to Offer Collegiate Newspapers Digitally

Barnes and Noble (NYSE:BKS) announced Tuesday morning it will begin selling digital copies of leading college and university newspapers. The bookseller will make the digital editions available across all of its Nook devices through a newly announced content partnership with UWIRE, a distribution service. For 99 cents a month, readers can choose from a variety of collegiate newspapers including publications from Harvard, Columbia, Louisiana State University, Northwestern University, University of Michigan, and the University of Texas at Austin. Once subscribed, the publications will automatically be delivered to the devices. "NOOK is now the only place that provides easy access to over 500 digital editions of college and university newspapers, delivering them to students, alumni, faculty, and sports fans, across all NOOK devices and NOOK reading apps," Jonathan Shar, vice president and general manager of emerging content, NOOK media said.
