Trump Win Fires Up Facebook

Facebook was roaring on the news of Donald Trump's election victory.

The president-elect propelled a record number of posts and video views on Election Day, according to data from Facebook (NASDAQ:FB).

On Tuesday, 115.3 million people on the social network worldwide generated 716.3 million likes, posts, comments and shares related to the election. There were also 643 million views on election-related videos.

In comparison, Facebook said between March 23, 2015, and November 1, 2016, 289 million people around the world generated 10 billion likes, posts, comments and shares related to the U.S. election.

Those who were unhappy with Tuesday's election outcome didn't just take to social networks, they also took to the streets. Thousands of protesters took in big cities including Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Oregon, and Minnesota chanted“not my president,” against Donald Trump. Many gathered outside Trump Tower in New York City.
