The ‘Joy in Childhood Foundation’ is committed to improving the lives of sick and hungry children across the country by providing charitable funding to kids whose lives are compromised by health and hunger issues. Utilizing its local franchisees to target the needs of each community.

The franchisees realized “if they came together and donated across the country we could really make a big statement about the brand, raise a lot of money, and help a lot of people. They wanted keep the local efforts going but they also wanted to have a mechanism where they can join together and really have a national impact” Raskopf said.

The spark of inspiration for the foundation was the devastation that came from Hurricane Katrina. In the aftermath Dunkin’ chose to give back to communities affected by the storm.

As a brand they have a few national activations of charity, however, locally they have hundreds. For example nationally, Dunkin’ has raised over $330,000 for its ‘National Feeding America’ partnership, however, locally they raised over $1.1 million.
