The U.S. Open’s new retractable roof

The USTA officially unveiled the new-state-of-the-art retractable roof over Arthur Ashe Stadium.

During a ceremony at the USTA Billie Jean National Tennis Center, on Tuesday, the U.S. Tennis Association officially unveiled  the new-state-of-the-art retractable roof over Arthur Ashe Stadium.

The $150 million roof took two years to make and features two panels on top of a 6,500-ton steel superstructure and is covered to provide shade for the spectators. The roof, which is expected to be used only for rain, will be illuminated by 360 LED sports lights.
