Worried About Zika? Here Are The Best Mosquito Repellents

The first baby born in the continental U.S. with a Zika virus-related birth defect, microcephaly, was delivered in New Jersey on Tuesday. According to the CDC, 591 cases of Zika have been diagnosed in the U.S. so far -- all travel related. Sawyer Picaridin insect repellent scored a 96 out of a possible 100 points based on tick and mosquito repellent effectiveness. The pump spray retails for about $8.25 and was found to last up to eight hours.

This mild, mostly floral aroma aerosol spray costs about $6.50 and offers more than 8 hours protection from Aedes and Culex mosquitos. Its active ingredient is deet 25%.

This formula also scored very high at 93 when it came to effectiveness, but beware of its rubber cement aroma after applying. The aerosol spray costs approximately $6.39 and its active ingredient is deet 30%.

The pump spray costs about $7.50, and if you like the smell of eucalyptus with a hint of lemon, you’re in luck. Its active ingredients are oil of lemon and eucalyptus 30%.

Priced between $5.42 and $9.95, this aerosol spray’s active ingredient is picaridin 20%, and protects against Aedes and Culex mosquitoes for up to six hours.
