Sheldon Adelson Says He's Thinking of Expanding His Las Vegas Empire

At the Friends of the IDF gala at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City, Sheldon Adelson, the chairman and CEO of the Las Vegas Sands Corporation, told the FOX Business Network’s Liz Claman that he is planning to expand his empire in Las Vegas, citing favorable economic conditions.

“The economy depends upon tourism, and the tourism has been improving in Las Vegas for the last year or two,” Adelson said. “As a matter of fact, so much so that I’m thinking of adding some more hotel rooms. We already have the largest hotel in the world—7,100 suites—and we have room to put another 1,000 or 1,200 in.”

The casino billionaire also commented China’s economy, specifically the Macau region, which is known for its large casino sector.

“The decline in Macau is stabilizing, if it’s not already stabilized. There isn’t anybody who doesn’t think this is the year of the turnaround.”
